Meeting with Security Product Manufacturers
Tuesday, 9th July 2024
It is always important if you use any products that you know and understand as much as you can about how they are produced, working practices, and those involved in any development. The Expanded Metal Company invited Trident Manor representatives to visit and review their site in Hartlepool.
Expanded metal that conforms to LPS 1175 and meets the C5 (old SR3) requirements is often used and recommended in our cultural development projects as a cost-effective means of increasing levels of protective resilience. Following an invite from Phil Astley, the Managing Director of the Expanded Metal Company Limited based in Hartlepool the opportunity to show Hannah Miller from the team the production line where these materials are made, the different products that exist, and the exciting developments that are taking place was accepted.
The production processes were explained, manufacturing processes observed, and a tour was undertaken of the site where 'Expanded Metal' was first developed. Phil was a great host and explained the different types and global uses of expanded metal, not just in the protective spheres but also in automotive, storage, and filtration. Hannah was able to handle LPS 1175-rated products and understand their effective applications, especially during redevelopment programmes.
Andy Davis, Trident Manor's MD said, "It is always important that consultants know and understand products that they may be recommending and so any opportunity to visit venues involved in the manufacturing of products should always be taken. It is never a wasted learning experience."
