Security Risk Assessment at Prestigious Aberdeen Cultural Venue
Friday, 12th January 2024
Trident Manor personnel continued their support for the cultural sector by undertaking a security risk assessment of a venue prior to the commencement of a high-valued exhibition.
Following an urgent request from a client, personnel from Trident Manor visited a high-profile venue in Aberdeen where a thorough security assessment was undertaken to ensure that the physical, technical, and operational security practices met the required standards.
A day and night review was undertaken of the perimeter to evaluate the social activities and to assess any changes that could impact (positively or negatively) the security of the venue. The context was established through a discussion with the in-house team and pre-deployment research to understand crime and anti-social activities in the areas. It is also important at this point to understand what emergency service support exists and how long any response would take.
The venue itself had many wonderful and high-valued artefacts that would be attractive to criminals (opportunist and organised crime groups) which to a degree reduces the risk (subject to the content of any loans) of incoming loans.
While the venue was left with several recommendations to improve aspects of is security it was great to see proactive operational activities and high levels of security awareness, something that is sometimes not always present.
Upon return a report was prepared, reviewed, and sent to the client within a week of the assessment being conducted which allowed the client the opportunity to make an informed decision about lending to the venue and/or any restrictions that may be imposed.
Andy Davis our Managing Director said, “Every month Trident Manor is undertaking 2-3 security assessments at cultural or heritage venues on behalf of clients. We provide professional services based on an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the sector and this gives clients that additional level of assurance that we will act in their best interests.”
Whether for accreditation, meeting GIS (Government Indemnity Scheme) requirements, quality assurance, or just a peace of mind the Trident Manor team and our Cultural Protection Services are here to support the sectors nationally or internationally.
