Social Outreach: Alnwick Museum Design

As part of our social outreach objectives for 2024, Trident Manor is honoured to be able to support Bailiffgate Museum in the design stages for a potential relocation to Alnwick’s very own Northumberland Hall.

Northumberland Hall is an impressive Grade I listed building in the heart of Alnwick which has been underutilised for many years. The relocation is subject to ongoing planning and, if successful, will provide the museum with more space for exhibitions and activities in a more prominent and accessible location, supporting local businesses.

In its current early stages of planning and development, Bailiffgate Museum is committed to “designing-in” security as early as possible to ensure that future planning of permanent and temporary exhibitions can be done flexibly and without impacting the protection of its assets. This is especially important for museums that may wish to obtain loans under GIS, as designing in measures that meet the standards of government indemnity early on is much more cost effective than making amendments and installations retroactively.

Hannah Miller is leading in supporting the project and has said “It’s a pleasure to be able to work with the Bailiffgate Museum trustees and planning team on such a stunning building. In taking advantage of the opportunity to discuss the possibilities of security design early on, the museum will hopefully be able to bring life to something that is futureproof and sustainable, so it can focus on producing engaging exhibitions for the Alnwick community.”
