Managing Director shares thoughts and considerations at the ASIS UK area of The Security Event on the subject of training as a continued enabler in the security sector.

Our Managing Director, Andy Davis, was invited by ASIS UK to share his thoughts and observations about the continued need for the delivery of training and development programmes throughout the life cycle of any organisation to maximise the levels of protection afforded.

He identified that there were massive advancements in technical security applications and physical security measures but ultimately there was still ‘the human element’ which could be a very strong protective measure. Equally, it could be the weakest link. He identified that delivering training to all staff about what needs to be protected, why, and how is vitally important to asset protection and helps develop a more robust security culture if started during staff induction.

Andy said, “Security training and development is one of the most cost-effective measures most organisations, especially those where there is a large degree of public interaction. It minimises the risk of mistakes being made and empowers a workforce to take ownership of protective actions.”

The session was well attended by commercial and government representatives and demonstrated the benefits of having effective professional trade bodies working for and on behalf of its membership.
